Arizona State University's football team faced a tough road challenge on Saturday, as they were defeated by the University of Central Florida (UCF) with a final score of 35-17. The game, which took place at UCF’s Bounce House stadium, saw the Sun Devils struggle to contain the Knights' potent offense and couldn’t find their rhythm throughout the contest.
It started out well enough for ASU as they took a 3-0 lead after the first quarter. The second quarter saw UCF finally get it going scoring 14 points but the Sun Devils added a touchdown of their own. The halftime score was 14-10. The wheels then fell off for the Sun Devils in the second half. The defense had trouble stopping UCF and the offense turned the ball over multiple times.
ASU could only muster another 7 points as UCF blasted away and scored 21 in the second half. The final was 35-17.
Arizona State will need to regroup quickly as they prepare for their next matchup. The Sun Devils' performance in this game will surely spark conversations about what adjustments need to be made in order to compete at a higher level. On the other hand, UCF’s confidence is soaring as they continue their pursuit of a successful season.
