The Tennessee Volunteers secured a commanding 28-10 victory over the Mississippi State Bulldogs, dominating both offensively and defensively. Tennessee outgained Mississippi State 236 to 113 total yards, with 157 passing yards and 79 rushing yards, while the Bulldogs struggled with just 103 passing yards and 10 rushing yards. The Volunteers' defense stifled Mississippi State, forcing two interceptions and limiting them to only seven first downs. Tennessee was efficient on third downs, converting 5 of 10 attempts, and capitalized in the red zone, scoring two touchdowns and a field goal. Despite both teams committing two turnovers each, Tennessee’s control of the clock and ability to execute in key moments sealed a decisive win.
Miss St hosted Tennessee on this fine fall day only to lose in regular fashion. The State defense played a sound game that would be enough for winning football only to have the offense sput and sputter with turnovers, sacks, and dropped passes. #66 gave up 4 sacks on the day and Shapen continued his turn over ways with twp picks and a fumble. State will regroup and try to find a win in the next two as they have the egg bowl and Mizzu up to close out this season.
