Harold Perkins Jr. comes up with the game-changing interceptionAlabama Falls to LSU, 17-13
Article By: Tuscaloosa, Alabama - The Alabama Crimson Tide suffered what could be a fatal blow to their SEC title hopes, losing to the Tigers of LSU 17-13. This game was a true defensive battle as neither team could get into any sort of rhythm on the offensive side of the ball, however the Crimson Tide did just enough to head into halftime with a 10-3 lead. In the second half the Tiger offense roared to life thanks to some clutch passing by quarterback Garrett Nussmeirer to tie the score at 10-10. Following the score the Tide tried their best to answer back, however quarterback Jalen Milroe would make a costly mistake and throw an interception to all-everything linebacker Harold Perkins Jr. Just a few plays later Nussmeirer would again lead the Tigers into the endzone to give the Tigers the 17-10 lead. The Crimson Tide would respond early in the fourth quarter with a field goal to cut the Tigers lead to 4 points, but the defense could not stop the LSU offense and could only watch in horror as the final seconds ticked off the clock. "To say this one hurts is an understatement," said coach McDonagh at the post game press conference. "We've got some things we need to fix on both sides of the ball and fast. We still have a chance to earn a birth in the playoffs, but we cannot afford to make any more mistakes." With the loss the Tide are now 7-2 on the season and head to Tallahassee, Florida to take on the Seminoles of Florida State who are coming off a huge upset over a red-hot Miami Hurricanes team.
LSU Stumps the Tide
Article By: The LSU Tigers traveled to Tuscaloosa this past Saturday for arguably the biggest game in the SEC so far with both conference championship and CFP bids on the line. NDL Gameday highlighted this as the game of the week and gave the Tigers prime bulletin board material as the entire panel chose the Tide. The game itself was a throwback to old school SEC play as defense was the main focus for both teams. It took until the 2nd quarter for the first points to hit the scoreboard as Bama RB Jam Miller took a 25 yd pass from star QB Jalen Milroe to the house. LSU responded with a solid drive of their own but ended up with only a FG after stalling in the redzone. The Tide would end the half with a long 51 yd FG to go up 10-3. Nussmeier and Company, bailed out all day by their stellar defense, finally found something at the tail end of the 3rd quarter as they drove right down the field for a 6 play 67 yd TD drive capped off by a TD reception by TE Mason Taylor. With the game tied at 10 all, the Fightin' Tiger defense stepped up like they have all season with an acrobatic INT from All-American LB Harold Perkins Jr. 2 plays later the speedy WR Aaron Anderson took a bubble screen 52 yds to the crib to give the Tigers their first lead of the day at 17-10 going into the 4th quarter. The Tide led a great drive but were stuffed by a blitzing S Major Burns on 3rd and 5 which forced them into a FG to get the score to 17-13. The Tigers got the ball with 5 min left on the clock and the All-American OLine came alive. Behind stud OTs Campbell and Jones Jr, RB Caden Durham ran it down the field again and again and again to end the game. 17-13 Final LSU.
The Tigers now turn their focus to a stout Florida Gator team to continue on their path to the SEC Championship and a birth to the CFP.
