In a game of MWC Foes AND Seasoned NDL Coaches, Defense led the way. Coming in, Both teams were top 20 in the nation in scoring. Going out, both were wondering if they knew how to score.
New Mexico defense led the way holding the San Diego State Aztecs to 0-4 on 4th downs, 2-9 on 3rd downs and forcing 3 interceptions including the game winning interception with seconds to go in the redzone.
Eli Saunders Led the Lobos with 21 carries and 92 yards and the only touchdown of the game.
Coach Z was disappointed after the game but only had respect and admiration to reflect on towards his opponent, Sammy. "They played a great game on defense, it felt like when we passed, they were in our playbook and when big running situations occurred they made the stop. I am disappointed in the result, but the reality is they deserved to win, we were outplayed."
