In a tightly contested matchup, the Oklahoma State Cowboys edged out the Arizona State Sun Devils with a final score of 14-10. The game was marked by strong defensive plays and strategic scoring, with key moments late in the game sealing the Cowboys' victory.

The Sun Devils kicked off the scoring in the second quarter, with running back Cam Skattebo breaking loose for a 33-yard touchdown run. Ian Hershey capped off the drive with the extra point, giving Arizona State a 7-0 lead. The Cowboys responded in the third quarter as quarterback Alan Bowman connected with Ollie Gordon II on an 11-yard touchdown pass. Logan Ward's successful extra point tied the game at 7-7.

In the fourth quarter, Arizona State regained momentum with a 26-yard field goal from Hershey, putting them ahead 10-7. However, just minutes later, Oklahoma State mounted a decisive drive culminating in a 5-yard rushing touchdown by Jake Schultz with 35 seconds to go, which was followed by another successful kick from Logan Ward. This gave the Cowboys a 14-10 lead.

Throughout the game, both teams showcased solid defensive efforts. Oklahoma State amassed a total of 242 yards of offense, while Arizona State earned 250 yards. On the ground, the Sun Devils had the edge with 147 rushing yards compared to the Cowboys' 115, but Oklahoma State was more efficient in the air, posting 127 passing yards against Arizona State's 103.

A key statistic that influenced the outcome was turnovers; Oklahoma State committed one turnover compared to Arizona State's three. The Cowboys showcased effective red zone performance, converting two of their two attempts into touchdowns while the Sun Devils struggled to capitalize on their opportunities, only managing a field goal from their single red zone attempt.

Individually, Ollie Gordon II was a standout for Oklahoma State, recording 74 rushing yards along with 51 receiving yards and a touchdown reception. Alan Bowman completed 11 of 16 passes for 127 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.

With this victory, the Cowboys improved their season to 5-3, demonstrating resilience and the ability to perform under pressure against a determined opponent in Arizona State.

ASU Fall Short

TEMPE, AZ – Arizona State's hopes for a home victory were dashed on Saturday night as Oklahoma State mounted a dramatic late-game rally to secure a 14-10 win in a hard-fought battle at Sun Devil Stadium. The Sun Devils, who had held a slim lead for much of the second half, saw that advantage slip away in the final minutes when the Cowboys scored a go-ahead touchdown with under one minute remaining.

From the opening whistle, both teams struggled to find offensive rhythm. Arizona State's defense, bolstered by a raucous home crowd, set the tone early, stifling Oklahoma State’s offensive attempts. The Sun Devils defense kept the Cowboys out of the end zone for much of the game, forcing multiple punts and preventing any significant gains through the air or on the ground.

It was a game marked by strong defenses, missed opportunities, and ultimately, one critical play in the closing moments.

"We had a chance at the end of the game to stop them, but our interior defensive line just fell apart, and we could not get anything going on offense. Our team played hard but we have to stop turning the ball over" said a disappointed coach priest19.
