After the game Coach Suckeye (hahaha) had this to say, “First off what a well played game by USTA, tip of the cap to that team and their Coach. They mixed things up a lot kept us on our toes. We started off great. Jump out to a nice lead. Had a chance to extend that but we had a dropped pick 6 in the 2nd quarter. USTA would march down on a great drive to cut it to 17-10 at the half. 2nd Half belonged to USTA. They made the adjustments. We missed a couple of passes unfortunately. We will continue to get better. “ GG VickTim. GL the rest of the way!
It was a tale of two halves in Boca Raton on Wednesday night, but in a change of recent events, it was the Roadrunners who were able to make a play or two at the end to win a conference battle against Florida Atlantic, 24-17. For the majority of the first half, it was all Owls. Two big plays along with a nice drive put FAU up 17-3, and the Roadrunners were being stymied on offense. A big play in the second quarter ignited the offense, and allowed UTSA to get the ball down and punch it in just before the half to bring the deficit to 17-10. In the second half, the UTSA defense played its best half of the year, and the offense was able to march down the field on two drives to push the lead to 24-17. The Roadrunners ended up with the ball with a few minutes left and knew they'd have to make some first downs to hold onto the victory, and on a third a long, running back Robert Henry delivered as he came uncovered on a wheel route to convert. From there, the running game was able to secure a couple of first downs to seal the win. After the game, Coach Tim said, "FAU had us stopped in the first half. They played great defense and hit us with some big plays. We were able to right the ship, and from there our defense was able to make a few plays and we definitely caught some breaks. The Owls have a great team, and they are well coached. We're glad to get out of here with a win."
