In a game that had a lot riding on it, from playoff appearances, to conference standings, we saw the #12 Bulldogs play host to the #7 Longhorns in todays match up. Texas coming in undefeated trying to find their way into the SEC championship came out moving the ball well and scoring the only points in the first quarter. UGA played sound defense and moved the ball down the field pretty well in the second quarter but was only able to come away with field goals in the end to bring the score to 7-6 Texas at the half. UGA getting the ball to start the half, came out the game pretty well but ultimately would still be help to just now up 9-7 Georgia. That is where things kicked into gear for the Bulldogs as their defense kicked it up a notch, walking away with 5 picks on the day and a pick 6 on the board. QB Carson Beck had a solid day through the air going mistake free while spreading the ball around pretty well, and he had help controlling the clock as HB Trevor Etienne grabbed 165 yards on the ground. "We had a game plan and we stuck to it no matter what. We really needed this win, one for us to have a shot at making the CFP and also to let people know that the Bulldogs can play." said Coach Cane after the game. UGA still has a lot of games left on the schedule against really good coaches so we hope to finish strong.
Arch Manning threw a crucial pick in his only play of the game.
Thiis one was a classic SEC game. Texas would score on the opening drive and take the quick 7-0 lead but they would go ice cold after that. The Longhorn offense could not muster an more points in the first half and no points for the rest of the game! The Texas defense would play great all day. Only allowing 6 points in the first half and preserve the 7-6 halftime lead. Five Interceptions in the second half would spell their doom. Arch Manning with a huge pick on a horrible throw in his only play in the big SEC matchup. Texas looks to right the ship next week against Vandy.
GG DCane and GL the rest of the way..
