Arizona survives back and forth game

Article By: TEEwade

Arizona welcomed BYU to Tucson for a conference matchup this evening. The Wildcats were off to a quick start but missed a 54 yard field goal attempt in the 1st quarter. BYU would put points up first and take a 7-0 lead. Before Arizona could get a chance at another score, BYU forced a fumble on an excellent tackle. Soon enough it was 14-0 Cougars

The Wildcats somehow managed to stay calm and score 2 touchdowns in the final 3 minutes of the first half to tie the game 14-14. It was a task all night for Arizona to finish their drives. The drive at the end of half proved crucial as Arizona got 7 instead of 3 on the last play of the 1H with a RPO alert to Murphy to tie the game

In the second half, Arizona welcomed receiving the ball. Another drive stalled in the red zone and Arizona took a FG for a 17-14 lead. The next Arizona drive, Fifita was able to find McMillan on a 32 yard post for a TD which gave the Wildcats a 24-14 lead. BYU quickly erased this lead with pressure defense and a pick six. Fifita did his best to give the game away with bad decisions, but coach TEEwade takes the blame as the Wildcats got away from the run game up 10

Despite late mistakes, ball control with nearly 20 minutes of TOP keyed Arizona in this victory. The Wildcats got the ball with 4 minutes left and a tie game but were able to get in range for a Tyler Loop 49 yard FG. The Cougars were responding with a drive of their own, but an interception cancelled their plans. Zona would again settle for FG inside the 20 for a 30-24 lead. Defense came up with an interception to fight off the final BYU drive. GG Bagel

BYU falls short to Arizona

BYU offense looked lackluster today. It is said to be the interim OC whose scheme didnt mesh well with the players. The defense showed out today however, getting four turnovers. Two early turnovers helped BYU get to an early 14-0 lead. Which was subsequently lost as Arizona scored 24 unanswered points to make it 24-14. BYU managed to bring it back and get the game to trailing 27-24 with the ball. Unfortunately Retzlaff threw a pick. However, the defense held them to 3, giving the BYU offense under a minute to travel the field to overcome the now 6 point deficit. They got to the other side of the field before throwing a game sealing pick.
