Article By: FiredUpChip

Central Michigan was fortunate to come out with a win against an impressive Ohio Bobcats squad today in Athens, Ohio. Coach Mallen was on the sidelines for his first game as a member of the NDL and he made quite the statement by getting over 600 yards of total offense. In an absolute assault on the skies, Ohio ran up and down the field on the Chippewas defense today. However, as Ohio was driving to take the lead due to an Alston-Jackson fumble on an onside kick recovery with 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter, safety Caleb Spann was able to come in clutch and get a 102-yard pick six with 2:47 remaining to score the final points of a game that combined for 106.

Coach Chip had the following comment when asked about the game: "What an incredible way to get introduced to a new coach in the NDL! Coach Mallen is quite the player and will definitely be looking at a chance at double digit wins this season with a very offensively talented Ohio squad. I'm glad we have Bert [Emmanuel Jr.] on our team because there aren't many guys in MACtion who can keep up with his legs, which really opens things up for us. Marion Lukes is also an absolute stud, and our entire offensive line will be getting a game ball after that performance!!"

In an electrifying showdown at Peden Stadium, Central Michigan narrowly escaped with a high-stakes 60-46 victory over a fierce and determined Ohio Bobcats team. Quarterback Bert Emanuel Jr. was unstoppable, leading the Chippewas both on the ground and through the air, accounting for a jaw-dropping five touchdowns. His blend of speed and precision proved to be the difference-maker in a game that turned into a shootout for the ages.

Coach Mallen, in his debut on the sidelines for the Ohio Bobcats in the National Development League (NDL), showcased an offensive arsenal that racked up over 600 yards of total offense. Ohio dominated large stretches of the game, relentlessly attacking Central Michigan’s defense and keeping the scoreboard operator busy.

The game reached a fever pitch late in the fourth quarter. After a crucial Alston-Jackson fumble on an onside kick recovery with five minutes left, the Bobcats found themselves in position to take the lead. But as Ohio was driving with momentum, safety Caleb Spann delivered the game's defining moment. With just 2:47 remaining, Spann intercepted a pass near the goal line and raced 102 yards for a game-sealing pick-six, turning the tide and giving Central Michigan their final points in a combined 106-point thriller.

After the game, Central Michigan’s Coach Chip was full of praise for both teams. “What an incredible way to get introduced to a new coach in the NDL! Coach Mallen is quite the player and will definitely be looking at a chance at double-digit wins this season with a very offensively talented Ohio squad. I'm glad we have Bert [Emanuel Jr.] on our team because there aren't many guys in MACtion who can keep up with his legs, which really opens things up for us. Marion Lukes is also an absolute stud, and our entire offensive line will be getting a game ball after that performance!”

The thrilling contest left fans buzzing and set the tone for what promises to be an exciting season.
