In a game filled with late drama and high stakes, the Arkansas Razorbacks stunned the Tennessee Volunteers 36-35 in Nashville. The matchup, characterized by defensive grit early and offensive fireworks late, saw Arkansas clinch victory with a bold two-point conversion in the dying moments.
The first quarter was a defensive slugfest, but Tennessee managed to break through with a 1-yard touchdown pass from Nico Iamaleava to Cameron Selden with just 1:44 remaining, giving the Volunteers an early 7-0 lead.
The second quarter brought a flurry of scoring as Arkansas’ Ja’Quinden Jackson powered in from four yards out at the 6:38 mark. Tennessee responded with a 31-yard strike from Iamaleava to Chaz Nimrod, pushing the score to 14-7 with 3:46 left in the half. Arkansas answered again, with Taylen Green scoring on a 10-yard run at the 56-second mark. However, Iamaleava orchestrated a lightning-fast drive, capping it with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Miles Kielman with just 19 seconds left, giving Tennessee a 21-14 halftime lead.
The third quarter was scoreless as both defenses tightened, but the fourth quarter delivered an electric finish. Arkansas tied the game at 21 with Jackson’s 1-yard touchdown run at the six-minute mark. Tennessee reclaimed the lead at 28-21 when Iamaleava found Bru McCoy for an 18-yard score with 3:54 remaining.
Arkansas, refusing to back down, converted a critical fourth down and completed a 50-second drive with a Green-to-Andrew Armstrong touchdown pass, knotting the game at 28-28 with under a minute left. Tennessee struck back almost immediately, capitalizing on busted coverage with a 55-yard touchdown from Iamaleava to Kielman, reclaiming the lead at 35-28 with 30 seconds to go.
In an incredible finish, Arkansas drove down the field in seconds, culminating in a 52-yard touchdown pass from Green to Khafre Brown with just three seconds remaining. Rather than settle for overtime, the Razorbacks gambled and converted a gutsy two-point attempt to seal the 36-35 victory.
With two games remaining against Texas and Missouri, the Razorbacks hope to build on this thrilling win and cap their season with more upsets. Meanwhile, Tennessee will look to regroup after a heartbreaking loss that came down to the wire.
