Tuscaloosa, Alabama - The Alabama Crimson Tide picked up another conference win today, defeating the Commodores of Vanderbilt 31-0. On the offensive side of the ball the Tide relied on their rushing attack to get the job done, totaling 189 yards on the ground to go along with 3 touchdowns and 39 pancake blocks. On defense Alabama did a fantastic job slowing down the Commodores option attack, limiting them to 34 carries for 81 yards while forcing 5 turnovers (4 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery). Strong safety Malachi Moore took home player of the game honors in the win, totaling 10 tackles, 3 for loss, 1 interception and 1 forced fumble. "We did pretty well on both sides of the ball," said coach McDonagh at the post game press conference. "On offense we established the run and on defense with managed to shut it down. Usually when you do that, things are going to go your way." Up next for the Crimson Tide is a trip to Columbia, South Carolina to take on the Gamecocks in what should be an exciting match-up.
Vanderbilt traveled to Tuscaloosa to play big brother Alabama Crimson Tide and it went how it was expected losing 31-0 to the Tide. The defense did have a few nice stops, but the offensive line wore down the defense.
Coach Quest said it was hard to grade the backs in the game because it was hard to hit the hole when the line got blown back two yards every play. 1st and 10 was more like 1st and 12 as Bama pushed the line back 2 yards nearly every play.
It is going to be a long season.
