Defense played tough, but Iowa was able to add a final score with about 5 minutes to go to make it 24-20. Minnesota could not convert and Iowa was able to run out the clock. Kaleb Johnson, Iowa RB, had a super game. He rushed the ball 28 times for 281 yards and 2 TD's. He could not be stopped. Coach Taruncheel had this to say, "We could not stop the run game. They were very effective moving the ball down the field and blocking. This was a tough loss, but we will continue to practice and come out fighting. Brosmer did a great job of passing the ball and we did not turn it over once. A couple key drops really hurt us. Hats off to the Iowa coach for a great game."

Iowa O-Line Finishes on their Knees

Hawkeyes Win a Close One

Article By: wildes1

Iowa came out with a specific gameplan in their first conference game, which was also their home opener. They were going to make the Golden Gophers pay for their man to man defense. Iowa came out with 3 man beaters to start the game, and threw an incomplete pass and were sacked twice. So much for that.

The Hawkeyes would then go on to rely heavily on what they always rely on. The running game, and defense. Kaleb Johnson continues to show he was worth all that corn NIL money as he rushed the ball 28 times for 281 yards and 2 TDs. While the defense wasn't able to cause any turnovers, they defnitely played a great game, led by DE Ethan Hurkett's 2 sacks and 4 tackles for loss.

Minnesota played a great game, and were defnitely hard to figure out on offense and defense, word is they are looking for a new scouting director in Iowa City.
