Dawgs Embarrassed in Apple Cup
Article By: The huskies fell to their in state rival, the Washington State cougars in a blowout 41 to 17 Apple cup loss.
The game started promising for the huskies, forcing the Cougs to punt on their opening possession, then following it up with a TD scoring drive. This would be the lone highlight of the game for the huskies, however. The Cougars then scored TD's on back to back drives. Will Rodgers threw his first of 4 interceptions on the day to set up this second scoring drive.
The scoring slowed a bit in the second, with both teams trading field goals, and the cougs scoring another TD. Down 21-10 at half, the huskies felt they were still in it. After receiving the ball after the half, true freshman QB Demond Williams came in for one play and fumbled the ball, setting up the Cougs in the red zone. With the momentum on their side, the Cougs scored 2 more touchdowns in the 3rd. The huskies were able to score a 75 yard Jonah Coleman TD on a broken play. Will Rodgers continued to be confused by the Coug defense, throwing 2 more interceptions in this quarter.
The Cougs ran the clock in the 4th quarter, but further added to their lead with a field goal. The huskies tried to move the ball through the air with not much success.
GG matt, and good luck the rest of the season!
