Cincy Wraps Up Season With a Bowl Win
Article By: The Cincinnati Bearcats defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights today 35-28 in the Reliaquest Bowl. Rutgers got out to a lead in the first quarter with a key red zone pick to stop Cincinnati, but the Bearcats were able to score 3 TDs in the 2nd quarter to enter the half tied, helped by a huge 76 yard pick 6 by Jordan Young. Cincy was able to score in the 3rd quarter, but neither team was able to get any points the rest of the game. The Bearcats were able to stop Rutgers, but it was a nail biter and the Scarlet Knight's had multiple shots at the end zone as the game ended. Key defensive stops were the story, as Cincy won the turnover battle 4-2.
The end of the season opens new possibilities, as rumors swirl about Coach Dynasty leaving for a new opportunity after smashing expectations. He will still leave with many what-ifs, as their 9-4 season featured 3 losses by only one possession and they also lost in the third round in the Beefy cup by a last second field goal after going undefeated in their pool. The season was a big success, but the possibility to have a truly special season slipped away. On to next year and whatever it may hold!
