Columbia, Missouri - The Missouri Tigers watched their season come to a screeching halt tonight, falling to the Mountaineers of West Virginia 27-21 in the first round of the College Football Playoffs. The first half of the game was total domination by the Mountaineer defense, as they had their way with the Tigers offensive line. The only bright spot was right before the half when Brady Cook was able to connect with Nate Noel on a long touchdown pass down the sideline to make the score 10-7 West Virginia heading into the break. In the 3rd quarter the Tiger defense decided it was their turn to dominate, returning 2 touchdowns to give Missouri an improbale 21-10 lead. This lead would be short lived however, as the Mountaineers kept their pose and scored 10 uanswered points in thr 4th quarer to take a 6 point lead with just under a minute to go. The Tigers, with their backs against the wall, managed to get the ball to midfield with just under 5 seconds left to go on the clock. Brady Cook managed to spot a streaking Theo Wease Jr. down the sideline and hit his target right in the hands, but sadly Wease Jr. could not come down with the ball as the Missouri players and fans watched in horror as their season came to an end. “This game will be remembered as a classic,” said coach McDonagh at the post game press conference. “Unfortunately for us we were on the wrong side of history in this one. It’s going to sting for a while.” With the season now over Tiger fans face an uncertain future as coach McDonagh has yet to say if he will return for another season. Stay Tuned.
