Defense comes up big for ULM

Warhawks come out on top

Article By: taruncheel

ULM hosted Louisiana Tech and at the beginning it looked like it would be a long day for the Warhawks. They could not get anything going on their first few drives. After giving up an opening drive TD to Louisiana Tech, it took until the end of the first quarter for ULM to score. This tied the game at 7 at the end of the 1st quarter. Louisiana Tech drove down the field again, but was intercepted at the 1. On the next play, ULM could not get out of the endzone and Louisiana Tech was awarded a safety. Teams stayed scoreless until right at the end of the quarter ULM kicked a 32 yd FG with 5 seconds remaining in the half. In the 2nd half, ULM capitalized on 2 pick 6's in the 3rd quarter. ULM had 5 interceptions on the day without turning the ball over. Coach Taruncheel had this to say at the end of the game. "The boys played well today and we were fortunate our defense played tough. We still have work to do as we could not stop their running game. Right now, we will enjoy the victory and get ready for the next game."
