Article By: Just as in their loss to Tulsa, Jacksonville State had a huge effort sequence that brought the home crowd alive and gave the entire program hope.
While trailing 7-0 the Gamecocks got pushed back to their own goal line but on 4th and inches came up with a miraculous stop. After a challenge determined Jacksonville State indeed got the goal line stand RB Anwar Lewis went straight up the gut for a 99-yard score to even that game at 7-7.
Once again however, the wheels feel off in the form of interceptions. JSU QB Zion Turner would wind up throwing five interceptions over the remainder of the game as Ball State slowly pulled away.
Before you knew it JSU was in catch up mode and had to keep flinging the rock with shaky confidence and it led to disastrous results as Ball State would come away with the 34-16 victory.
The Jacksonville State Gamecocks now fall to 1-2 and welcome a two-week break before their next encounter against rival Kennesaw State.
Kelly and Magwood Team Up for First Win
Article By: Kiael Kelly threw for 257 yards, with 140 of those going to his favorite target Qian Magwood. Christian Davis eclipsed 100 yards on the ground as Ball State cruised to the first victory of the year. Ball State failed to convert two trips inside the 5 yard line into points in the first half, but things opened up in the second half scoring 24 points.
Ball State looks to move to 2-0 next week vs CMU
