NDL: S29W4 - Texas (21) at San Diego State (38)

Horns Down(ed) by Tacos and CERVEZA

Article By: BigZZ916

In a battle of San Diego Residents, in the beautiful Snapdragon Stadium, the Aztecs resembled their final four basketball team a couple years back and looked synchronized on both Offense and defense beating the #9 ranked Longhorns 38-21.

The early, back and forth was driven by balanced attacks on both sides.
The longhorns momentum to stay with the Aztec offensive firepower were fizzled by missed FG's, poor decisions that led to interceptions and inability to convert short yardage situations on third down.
The Aztecs offense was truly a thing of beauty, highlighted by a balanced attack throughout the game, 362 passing yards and 164 yards on the ground.

Coach Zazzera (BigZZ), the San Diego State Alum, Was asked about his teams poor performance after the game "We have been reading the headlines and partied way to hard out here in America's Finest city , its hard to say no to fish tacos and cerveza - add the beach and you have a reallll good time. But, the boys (and I) should of waited until after the game. Kudos to the Aztecs and their coach, he sure set me up pregame with a nice big hug... im running out of things to say here damnit. Im off to pacific beach to repeat last night."

The Longhorns better get straight quick or its going to be a long long season with some tough games ahead.

Aztecs Upset #9 Texas

Article By: hugme49

In a stunning turn of events, the San Diego State Aztecs delivered one of the most memorable performances of their decade, toppling the #9 Texas Longhorns with a decisive 38-21 victory. This impressive win not only moves the Aztecs to 2-1 on the season but also stands as a testament to the program's potential and resilience.

They moved the ball with precision, scoring 38 points against a highly ranked Longhorn defense known for its stinginess. The Aztecs’ balanced attack was a significant factor, combining effective passing with a strong ground game to keep the Texas defense on its heels.

The defense, meanwhile, rose to the occasion, stifling Texas’ offensive schemes and disrupting their rhythm. Key stops and timely turnovers allowed San Diego State to control the tempo of the game, ultimately leading to their stunning upset. The Aztecs' ability to remain composed under pressure was evident as they maintained their lead throughout the game and never allowed the Longhorns to mount a significant comeback.

Following the game, Coach hugme49 expressed immense satisfaction with his team’s performance. “I couldn’t be prouder of how our guys played today,” he said. “They showed tremendous heart, discipline, and execution against a top-tier opponent. This was a complete game from start to finish.”

The victory over Texas is arguably the biggest win for the Aztecs in this decade, marking a significant milestone for the program. Coach hugme49, who shares a connection with Texas coach based out of San Diego, also took a moment to acknowledge the mutual respect between the two coaching staffs. “We have a lot of respect for their coach,” he noted. “He’s done an incredible job with that program. We wish the Longhorns nothing but success for the rest of their season.”

With the Aztecs now standing at 2-1, this win provides a significant boost to their confidence and momentum as they move forward in the season. The team will undoubtedly carry the positive energy from this game into their upcoming matchups, knowing that they can compete with some of the best in the nation.
