Texas gets 1st win v 13th Ranked Buffs

Article By: BigZZ916

In a battle of old Conference rivals who now both enter a season with a new "home as a conference", The Texas Longhorns knocked off the Colorado Buffaloes 28-14.

The Longhorns started the game with an opening drive balancing big passes from QB Quinn Ewers and some pounding runs from Halfback CJ Baxter which was in step with the rhythm of the first half as a whole, seeing the Longhorns go up 28-0 at half putting the game out of reach.

Baxter's big 1st half was repeated in the second half where he saw a steady diet of runs finishing the game with 24 carriers 175 yards and 1 touchdown.
Ewers work predominantly occurred in the first half, only throwing a handful of times in the second. He finished with 13 completions on 16 attempts and 197 yards with 2 of them being big touchdowns. Ewers who has had the turnover bug in early games against Clemson and SDSU, did not turn the ball over which proved pivotal in the Win.

Colorado, led by the NDL legend outlaw, didn't quit and put up two 4th quarter TD's to make the Longhorns sweat a bit. The game finished with the Buffaloes driving but Qb Shedeur Sanders throwing his 2nd interception of the game which closed the book on any hopes of a comeback.

Coach BigZZ was pleased after the game with the win "We have a lot of respect for Colorado, a ton of talent led by a coach the whole country has a lot of respect for. Our execution in the first half was outstanding, we are proud of that. The second half left some opportunities to look towards for improvement as we move onto next week against Mississippi State, That's going to be a Dog fight"
