The Eagles look forward to defending The Factory in MAC play

Eastern Michigan falls at home

Article By: TEEwade

Maryland imposed their will on the ground tonight in Ypsilanti for 4 quarters. This ensured a long night of playing from behind with a 14-0 lead in the 2nd quarter. Eastern Michigan was rejuvenated from putting a FG on the board late in the 2nd quarter and getting a stop in the red zone before halftime.

It was all business on the next EMU drive as they utilized their own rushing attack, until Snyder found Getzinger in the seam wide open for a 17 yd TD. The fourth quarter saw a lot of scoring but the Eagles never could get the stops when they needed them most, largely because of Roman Hemby and Tai Felton. Maryland had an answer for every EMU sign of life and held the lead and the win. The Eagles fought hard to put themselves within reach but the onside kick never had a chance. GG Drew

Quarter 1 (TERPS) Preston Howard 16 yd pass from Billy Edwards Jr. (1:33)
Quarter 2 (TERPS) Billy Edwards Jr. 1 yd run (6:01)
(EMU) Kenyon Bower, 34 yd FG (2:16)
Quarter 3 (EMU) Jere Getzinger 17 yd pas from Cole Snyder (4:34)
Quarter 4 (TERPS) Colby McDonald 10 yd pass from Billy Edwards Jr (5:02)
(EMU) Max Reese 11 yd pass from Cole Snyder (3:08)
(TERPS) Roman Hemby 45 yd run (1:17)
(EMU) Cole Snyder,5 yd run (2 pt conv failed) 0:57

Maryland levels at 2-2, against EMU.

NDL vet TEEwade, welcomed Maryland into Maxx Crosby field, and the Terps relished the opportunity to test their mettle. Billy Edwards Jr. led the Maryland offense through the first 2 weeks, throwing for 700+ yards, but on this day Roman Hemby shouldered the load. Running for 168 yds on 21 carries, Hemby time and again, was able to ice the Eagles defensive stunts, finding holes behind a reasonably strong OL on the day, evidenced by going 6 for 8 on 3rd down.

A missed field goal was one of the few cracks in the Terps complete game plan in this matchup. These are the small details that cannot be overlooked and mopping these up can go a long way toward meeting that yearly win total, or missing it by 1 victory.

The terps saw an almost 3 minute TOP advantage, and once again, credit Hemby as the leader of the offense. Defensively, it must not be overlooked that Dante Trader Jr. continues to absolutely shine. Logging interceptions in back to back games, 1 TD, Trader has shored up the back end of the defense, allowing Drewwbacca to focus on the front 7 and battening down the hatches on the run game.

Running for 183 and passing for 191, the Terps demonstrated a balanced and capable attack that should fair well, as they now look to enter league play, hoping to raise their record above .500 for the first time since week 1. The next three weeks show Indiana, bye, Northwestern on the schedule, which offers Drewwbacca a fair chance to see where he stands in the B1G pecking order. Can he rise above his standings in Reigns B1G rankings, or will the NDL newcomer continue to be welcomed to the league by being bullied entering the heart of league play?

GG TEEWade, it was a fun matchup.
