Iowa Wins on Road Again

Article By: wildes1

Iowa wrapped up their non conference schedule with a visit out to California to play San Jose State. The Hawkeyes were able to keep the ball on the ground through most of the game. On the opening drive WR Jacob Gill took an end around to the house for a 47 yard touchdown. The two teams would exchange TD's in the 2nd qtr and Iowa took a 10 point lead behind the first of 4 FGs from Drew Stevens. Iowa seemed to be in control, they were up 10 points with 2 min left in the half, and receiving the ball in 2nd half. The Hawkeyes would get sacked, then throw an interception. SJSU capitalized and cut the lead back to 3. Iowa went into their 2 minute drill and scored a FG with no time left in 1st half to go to the locker room up 20-14. Iowa went to their RB Williams and played behind their great defense for the second half. Shutting out the Spartans 17-0 in the second half to win 37-14. RB Williams had 202 yards and 2 TD's to lead the way for the old 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense. Iowa can now set their sights on what many have said is the game of the week. They travel to Ohio State for their 3rd consecutive road game, and they know this will be an atmosphere unlike they have experienced all season.
