For the first time this season, Arizona was able to hold on to a fourth quarter lead and pulled off a 21-7 victory over the visiting Florida Atlantic Owls.
Twice this year, Arizona has taken leads in to the fourth quarter and both times have given up 21 unanswered points to lose. It looked like it might unfold again that way this past weekend in Tuscon. The Wildcats entered the fourth quarter with what felt like comfortable lead but then the FAU players started to rally.
Arizona could do nothing against FAU offensively in the final quarter and defensively FAU finally started to find the gaps in coverage. They moved the ball effortless and looked like they'd rally but Arizona was saved by back-to-back interceptions from ball hawk Safety Tacario Davis. The 6'4 DB won deep jump balls twice to preserve the victory for Arizona.
Arizona RB Quali Conley finally started to get his stride going this year by breaking 100 yards rushing for the first time all season. The senior has been bottled up in all of the Wildcats games so far this year but he finished off this one being named player of the game. He accounted for 127 of the Wildcats 209 total yards and was able to grind out the last two minutes of the game through his power rushing get multiple first downs needed to close out the game.
