With 2 losses on the season the Eagles needed something to avoid a 0-3 start to the season, and that is exactly what they did. The secondary were ball hawks racking up a total of 5 interceptions. The offense were struggling to put drives together in the 1st quarter, but were electric in the second quarter racking up 20 solid points, after that they played conservative and ran the ball without being stopped the rest of the game, to close out the first of many victories for the Boston College Eagles, GG to the Utah State Aggies
After an impressive Week 2 showing, Petras was anything but in his week 4 performance at Boston College. While he threw for 457 yards and two touchdowns, they only thing that will be remember are the 5 interceptions that were the sole reason for the devastating loss at BC.
Prior to the big road test the vibes around campus in Logan were palpable. The team was greeted with a sendoff for heroes. As Petras walked up the steps to the plane, he turned to the crowd, and with an emphatic fist pump he proclaimed "Boston College doesn't know what's coming!". Less than 24 hours after that proclamation, it was actually Petras that had no clue what was coming, or what the hell he was doing.
Seen leaving the away team locker-room, Rahul Faison, the team's leading rusher, was visibly upset and frustrated. When asked by media about his thoughts following the game, he responded, "Why don't you go ask Spencer? He seems to like to do all the talking". That comment can only lead us to believe tensions are high within the program.
Coach Garvin gave a brief post-game conference at the podium, and refused any questions regarding Petras' performance and the comments from Faison. He emphasized that the team is as strong as it was following the week 2 week, but obviously we are frustrated after expecting a much better showing this week. He also wanted to point out that although Petras may have turned over the ball way more than we'd like, he also expects the defense to exert a little of it's own dominance, and at times throughout the season we are going to need them to make a place and swing the momentum.
Will be interesting to see how this team responds with the biggest rivalry of the season on deck, as preperations for the Utah Utes will begin this week.
