1st Annual Paul Reveres Ride Trophy

Owls Are Wiser Than Eagles

Article By: RanDawg

The first annual Paul Revere's Ride Trophy will sit in Dad's room this season, as the Rice Owls hold off the Boston College Eagles, 31-28. The wiser father (RanDawg) was able to out-think and thus out-coach this young son (BossRanger101).

Son was able to get some good shots in during the 1st quarter and some change, moving the ball at will and taking a 21-7 lead. Right before the half, the Owls were able to pin the Eagles within their own 5-yard line. BossRanger101 tried to get greedy before halftime and throw from their own endzone. LB#11 Chris Conti was able to take advantage of this, sacking QB#1 Thomas Castellanos for the safety and shifting the momentum to the Owls to start the 2nd half.

The 3rd quarter was all Dad. Mixing in the run and the pass perfectly, Rice was able to add 14 points and take the lead going into the 4th quarter. The Owls would lead yet another scoring drive early in the 4th quarter before finally giving up a late TD to Boston College. With 10 seconds remaining and only trailing by 3, BC lines up for the onside kick and recovers it. But wait, there was a flag, the ball did not travel 10 yards, thus giving the ball to the Owls and sealing the victory and the coveted Paul Revere's Ride Trophy.

"It was a sweet sweet victory, to say the least," RanDawg remarked after the game. "We knew it was going to be a tough game but if we could get a few breaks here or there, we knew we stood a chance to walk away with this W. This trophy is going on the dresser in place of my wedding photo, I know my wife will understand"

Eagles Fall Short 31-28

Article By: BossRanger101

As the Eagles travelled to the Rice Owls, their minds were not focused on the game ahead. They came out strong with a 21-7 lead early in the second quarter, but just when you thought it was gonna be a blowout, tragedy struck, the Rice Owls defense got a safety. This one play turned the tides for the Rice Owls to make a great comeback and all grace to the Rice Owls Head Coach making great plays off of turnovers to closeout the game.
