SMU came into Memphis and put a beatdown on the Tigers. The 1st half was hard fought but SMU surged ahead 14-7 thanks to a 49 yard TD run. SMU wasted no time after the break as they scored another rushing TD making it 21-7. Memphis was able to move the ball but 4 interceptions is a lot to overcome. Memphis will need to regroup and learn how to take care of the ball and not give up big plays on defense

Big plays and defense seals the deal for the Mustangs in Memphis
This one was a heavyweight battle between two old friends and rivals. Both teams struggled to move the ball in the first quarter with SMU turning the ball over on two interceptions on silly decisions. The Mustang defense turned the momentum back to the Dallas side by holding the Tigers to two field goal attempts, both of which were missed. Bailey had an 85 yard catch and run to spark the Mustang rally. Four interceptions on the day by the defense and a couple of long runs by Knighton would help the Mustangs to pull away and hang on late. "A hard fought battle, just as expected in this one, we are just happy to come away with a victory in this one.", says Coach Steamrollr22 after the game.
