Long Road Ahead for the Cowboys

Cowboys Annihilated in Laramie

July 31, 2024 will forever be etched as terrible red letter date for the Cowboys. Arkansas came into a raucous house in Laramie and absolutely had their way with the 'Pokes. Taylen Green astounded with 78% completion percentage while throwing three touchdowns. The Razorbacks RB J. Jackson torched the porous Wyoming defense for 249 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.

The Cowboys kept it close in the first quarter but soon discovered they were in over their heads. Out matched in every facet of the game. There was nothing they could do except return a fumble 61 yards for a touchdown in the last seconds of the game. Arkansas Coach BigStimpin decided to run the ball instead of kneel it out, even though Wyoming only had 2 time outs and Arky had a fresh set of downs! I bright spot in the dismal day of Wyoming D.

Its been a long time since these friendly foes have squared up across from each other on the virtual gridiron. In this version of the story these coaches found themselves on opposite ends of the pasture. BigStimpin in the rich fertile soil of the SEC and Ole Swelly finding himself tucked away in Laramie somewhere in West Mountain territory.

Although these coaches know each other well, the disparity in talent would prove to be insurmountable. Wyoming actually dominated time of possession in the first quarter as they took a loooong and calculated drive to actually take an early lead. However Arkansas quickly matched Wyoming and began to overwhelm the Cowboys and forcing them from their strategic and calculated game plan.

With the game tucked away and out of hand frustrations from the Cowboy sideline seemed to boil over. Coach Swelly was not happy with BigStimpins decision to run the ball as opposed to kneeling it out. After the game coach Stimpin said he understood the emotions but also stated that him and coach go way back and for him to get upset and tarnish a long standing rivalry over a decision to play the game out was something he doesn't regret.
