The Umass Minuteman have had an outstanding season, and continued their success beating the Longhorns in a tight battle 28-24. Early on, it looked like Umass might run away with it taking a lead 14-0. Texas followed with a scoring run of their own putting up 24 straight to take a 24-14 lead. Unfortunately for the Longhorns, the scoring would end their as Umass would put the clamps down on defense and run at will leading too a 28-24 Minuteman Victory.
Both RB Jalen John, 17 carriers for 122 yards, and QB Taisun Phommachanh 7 carriers and 36 yards led the Minuteman running attack. On defense, the Minuteman capitalized on some big drive ending stops. In the first quarter on 3rd and 2, the UMass defense help CJ Baxter to a 1 yard run and forced the punt. In the 4th, and game ending drive, Quinn Ewers couldn't connect with TE Amari Nilback as the defense broke up the catch and led to a drop ending the game.
Quinn Ewers led the Longhorns on 21 completions - 25 Attempts, 281 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Coach Z was disappointed following defeat. "My time in Austin is clearly coming to an end. I cannot get it done with talent everywhere on this team. Im disappointed to say the least."
