Kansas State came in hopeful to complete with fellow purple Wildcat Northwestern. They did not recieve a hospitable welcome though. 4 turnovers prove costly for the visiting Wildacats, 3 of which were returned for TDs. Holding on to the ball has been in a problem in practice, and continued in live action. Fumbles were flying today, perhaps something about the Lake created humidity for both teams to lose their grip.
The running game was shutdown, and sacks piled up. Avery Johnson and the offense had no answers and made it easy for Northwestern to cruise. There were a few opportunities to create a ball game squandered. A missed FG in the first half, turnovers, and an overturned forced fumble created roadblocks. Then the defense couldn't do much on 3rd down to stop runs or passes. It will be a long season for many K-state fans the rest of the way with Top 5 Oregon coming to Manhattan next week many see the bumpy road continuing.
We welcomed ranked Kansas State into town and boy did we impress with a 38-7 victory. The offense was efficient with QB Jack Lausch completing 10 of his 14 passes for 140 yards. Cam Porter hit the century mark on the ground and had 2 TDs. But it was the defense that was the story of the day. 3 interceptions and 2 force fumbles helped give the offense great field position.
Xander Mueller was the player of the game with 4 tackles, 1 INT, 3 PD, 1 FF and 1 touchdown.
