Commonwealth Cup stays in Blacksburg

Virginia Tech was able to overcome the 1 game suspension of Drones and Tuten for rules violations and beat Virginia 31-7. The Hokies defense was strong all night only allowing a touchdown late in the first half. Backup running back Malachi Thomas was a great fill in for Tuten rushing for 165 yds on 27 carries and a TD while Collin Schlee filled in for Drones and completed 17 of 23 passes for 153 yards and 2 TDs. The defense forced Cavaliers into 2 turnovers intercepting it twice in the solid all around win for them. The Hokies will wrap up the season with Duke and hope to pick up a victory and become bowl eligible after the miserable 0-4 start to the season.

UVA struggles against Tech

In a rivalry between schools in the Commonwealth that has become one sided of late, UVA fell to VT.

The Cavs O line rarely was able to slow down the pressure from the Tech D, and as a result, the UVA defense got tired out by the Hokies running game.

Hopefully, with an off season looming, there can be something done to restore the shine to the Commonwealth Cup.
