Pitt vs Boston College

Pitt battles Boston College!

Pitt has had a much better second half to their season as they started off 1-0, but then they lost the next 3 games and were sitting at 1-3.
Then they won their Week 6 game against the Tar Heels and were 2-3.
Only to lose the next 3 games and be sitting at 2-6.

Then they pulled off a win against Virginia in Week 11 and a HUGE upset vs Clemson in Week 12.
They then lost to Louisville in Week 13 and then played Boston College this week in heir final game of the season!

And my oh my what a game it was!

1st Quarter, Boston College drives right down the field and are about to score when they throw an INT at the 5 yard line!
Pitt takes over and marches right down the field themselves, 95 yards and scores on a 19 yard rush by backup HB Reid.
But hold on a second, BC again, marches right down the field and score on a 55 yard pass to tie it up.
After 1, the score is 7-7.

To open the 2nd quarter, BC is driving and are at the Pitt 30. This drive started on their own 6.
They march on a 94 yard drive of their own and score on a 30 yard pass.
They go up 7-14 over Pitt.
Pitt marches right down the field and scores on a 20 yard pass to to WR Mumpfield.
Score is tied 14-14.
BC is driving and throws an INT on this drive.
Pitt is held to a punt on this drive.
BC drives yet again for 79 yards and on this one, they have better results as they score on a 5 yard pass.
They go up 14-21.
Pitt gets the ball back with 1:17 left in the half. They march right down the field and score on an 11 yard pass to WR Mumpfield.
The game is tied 21-21 at the half.

The second half would be similar to the first half.
In the 3rd quarter, Pitt receives the ball first and they start out on their own 25 yard line. They are held to a punt as the WR drops the 3rd down pass.
BC gets the ball and starts off where they left off. They start on their own 27 and march right down the field and score on a 2 yard QB keeper up the middle.
They go up 21-28.
Pitt is driving when QB Holstein throws his 1st INT of the game.
BC gets the ball back and they throw their 3rd INT of the game and this one is returned 68 yards to the house by CB McMillon!
Pitt misses the XP and are down 27-28.

BC gets the ball at their own 25 and have the ball as the 4th quarter starts.
They drive down and score on a 3 yard rush up the middle by their HB.
They go up 27-35.
Pitt starts their drive at their 4 yard line. They drive right down the field and score on a 30 yard pass to WR Nwabuko.
They convert on the 2 point conversion to tie the game 35-35.
BC gets the ball back with 2:43 left in the game. They are driving when they throw their 4 INT of the game.
Pitt takes over on the BC 43 yard line. They are held to a FG on this drive as they kick a 25 yard FG.
They go up 38-35.
BC gets the ball back with 1:03 left in the game. They march right down the field, but the Pitt defense bends and doesn't break as they are held to a 17 yard FG to end regulation.
Score is 38-38 going into OT.

In OT, BC wins the toss and elects to play defense first.
Pitt gets the ball and they score a TD in 2 plays. They open up with a pass and then score on an 8 yard rush by HB Hammond.
BC gets the ball and they come out throwing. 1st down, the ball is knocked down.
Second down, the WR and QB are not on the same page and the pass is mis-thrown.
Third down, the QB throws the ball behind the WR and the pass hits his fingers and falls to the ground.
Fourth down, BC goes for a 25 yard pass and the ball is knocked out of the WR's hands as he appeared to catch it initially.
Again, Pitt's defense steps up and holds BC scoreless in OT. They bend and do not break!

Pitt comes away with a victory to go 5-7 on the year and fall 1 game short of being bowl eligible!

I am not sure what I am doing for next season, but if I end up staying here at Pitt, it will be a lot of fun to continue here!"

BC will not be bowl eligible?

Boston College suffered a heartbreaking loss to Pitt in overtime, with a final score of 45-38, rendering them not bowl eligible. The game was a hard-fought battle, but ultimately, Boston College fell short of securing the victory they desperately needed to keep their postseason hopes alive.

From the beginning, it was clear that both teams were evenly matched, and the game was intense from start to finish. Boston College fought hard, but Pitt proved to be a formidable opponent, and in the end, they emerged victorious.

The loss comes as a significant blow to Boston College, as it marks the end of their chances of competing in a bowl game this season. The team and their fans had high hopes for the postseason, but now they will have to regroup and focus on finishing the season on a positive note.

Despite the disappointment, there were moments of brilliance from Boston College throughout the game. The team showed resilience and determination, and while the outcome was not what they had hoped for, they can take pride in their efforts and continue to push forward in their remaining games.

As the season draws to a close, Boston College will need to reflect on this loss and use it as motivation to finish strong. While they may not have reached their postseason goals, there is still a chance to end the season on a positive note and build momentum for the future.
