The Battle between #19 Wolverines and #12 Wildcats for the George Jewitt Trophy

Michigan Rally's From 10 to Beat #12 NW!

Article By: phreakk

The rivalry game between #19 Michigan and #12 Northwestern had more on the line than just the George Jewitt Trophy. Both teams are currently in the running for the B1G Ten Championship Game and the College Football Playoff. The Wolverines looked to bounce back after an embarrassing showing in The Shoe against the #6 Buckeyes.

The three stars for Michigan were Alex Orji, Colston Loveland, and Zeke Berry.
1) Alex Orji didn't fare too well in the passing game as his stat line was 16 completions on 26 attempts, 204 yards, a passing touchdown, and an interception. What earned his star was his 77 yard run (QB Draw) for a TD with about a minute to go in the 2nd quarter.

2) Colton Loveland was the key to the Wolverines passing offense as he caught 8 receptions for 142 yards. He led the Wolverines Offense on their verge to a Comeback Victory by getting open on key downs late in the game that led to the game winning touchdown.

3) Zeke Berry earned the final star, not for his play on defense, but his key play on Special Teams. Leading up to this point, Michigan had just scored a touch down on a Donovan Edwards run to bring the score NW 34-31. Michigan opted to kick an onside kick with 1:39 left on the clock. Northwestern's Garner Wallace scooped the onside kick and got leveled by Zeke Berry in which Wallace fumbled the ball into Michigan's hands.

Michigan was able to drive down the field on their last possession Donovan Edwards was able to score on a 3 yard run with 19 seconds left on the clock.

Great Game Matt!

Michigan studs too much for Northwestern

Article By: matt90210

Northwestern battled a huge roster mismatch for as long as they could but the Wolverines talent eventually proved too much. The Wildcats held the league for a while but they were just unable to stop the ground or air game. The Wolverines combined for 155 yards and 4 TDs on the ground as their all-americans just dominated the trenches. Jack Lausch was a bright spot, completing 12 of 20 passes for 226 yards and a TD. Despite the Big House crowd, Lausch remained composted, completing passes to 7 different receivers. Overall we are pleased with this performance as we expected to get blown out against one of the country's premier teams.
