The Boise State Broncos put on a clinic in their 31-3 victory over the San Jose State Spartans on Saturday. The Broncos' defense was dominant, forcing four turnovers and holding the Spartans to just 214 total yards. The offense didn't need to do much, scoring 14 points on defense alone.
The Broncos' defense set the tone early, forcing several turnovers early, and taking two of the INTs to the house. The Spartans were unable to generate any sustained offense throughout the game. They were held to just 108 passing yards however, they did gain 188 yards on the ground, which has been a problem for much of the season. The Broncos' defense didn't notch a sack but were swarming to the ball most of the game and it reflected in the Spartan stat line.
The Broncos offense didn't need to do much to win the game despite getting gashed on the ground due to winning the takeaway battle handily. The offense had plenty of short fields to work with for much of the game and executed when needed to keep the game out of reach of the feisty Spartan team.
The victory improves the Broncos' record to 6-4. They will look to continue their winning ways in their next game against Wyoming to close out MWC play.
