JSU Snaps Skid On Wild INT Return

Article By: Block M

JSU and Florida International would go back and forth all day long in a game that went down to the very last play.

It looked as though the Gamecocks were heading for a fifth straight loss when an out route to the running back broke into a long scoring play to put Florida International up 38-35 with just under two minutes left. However, the running game, which fueled Jacksonville State all game long drove JSU down the field and gave them a chance to win it as they sat at the four yard line with four tries to end it.

After being held three time they would fail to get in the end zone and settle for overtime.

In overtime, on the second play of the session, Florida International tried going over the top but safety Fred Perry had other ideas. He stepped in front of the receiver and weaved his way 100 yards through Panthers to snap Jacksonville State's losing streak in miraculous fashion.

FIU loses in heartbreaking fashion

Article By: SnealShiesty

Coming off of their last bye week of the season FIU travels to take on the Jacksonville State Gamecocks. The Panthers, coming off of a two game win streak were hoping to at least win 2 of their last 3 to become bowl eligible and it started with this game against the Gamecocks.

FIU's Kejon Owens and Haden Carlson look good early, moving the ball down the field and taking a 24-21 lead into the half. Carlson has padded the stat sheet often but has had a consistent issue turning the ball over. This game was no different having thrown 3 interceptions which allowed the Gamecocks to stay in the game in the second half. Jacksonville State had the ball late in the 4th with an opportunity to win the game down only 3. The FIU defense holds strong and keeps the Gamecocks out of the endzone but they kick 3 to go into overtime.

FIU starts overtime with the ball and Carlson's most costly int of the game came on second down as the Jax State safety jumps the route and takes it 100 yards to the house to win the ball game.

Turnovers have been too consistent for FIU and has lead to them losing a number of games this season. They now need to win both of their last two games to go bowling this season. The Panthers visit Kennesaw State next week.
