Nebraska overwhelmed USC with a comprehensive 321-yard passing attack and a potent 274-yard rushing game. Dylan Raiola dazzled with 17 completions on 21 attempts for 321 yards and 4 touchdowns, showcasing a remarkable 272.2 passer rating. Rahmir Johnson and Dante Dowdell led the rushing game, combining for 247 yards and 3 scores. Carter Nelson’s 73-yard touchdown catch was a highlight.
USC struggled against Nebraska's offensive firepower, with Miller Moss managing 206 passing yards and one touchdown but throwing two interceptions. The Trojans' rushing attack was ineffective, gaining only 42 yards. Despite strong individual defensive performances, including 10 tackles each from Kamari Ramsey and Easton Mascarenas-Arnold, USC couldn’t contain Nebraska’s balanced offense. The game saw USC's special teams and defensive efforts overshadowed by Nebraska’s all-around dominance.
Nebraska stormed the hostile Coliseum and silenced the crowd with a commanding presence. The first quarter began slowly, with Nebraska forcing a punt and then executing a methodical drive to take a 7-0 lead. The game saw several punts exchanged until late in the second quarter when Raiola connected with Lloyd on a jet sweep, followed by a quick strike to Fidone with just 15 seconds left on the clock for an 8-yard touchdown pass.
The third quarter was a thrilling display of excitement for the viewers.
USC responded with back-to-back kickoff return touchdowns, sandwiching a stunning 73-yard touchdown pass caught by true freshman Carter Nelson on his debut, sprinting in off a quick RPO slant over the middle. Right after the second kickoff return touchdown, Banks sprinted down a corner route for a 61-yard touchdown.
With third-quarter scores of 72, 104, 105, 73, 61, and 32 yards, it seemed defense was an afterthought.
