After a seasons best performance again Illinois , the Golden Gophers hoped to build on that as they Took on a stout Rutgers team . From the opening whistle it was clear that the gophers could not match speed . The Rutgers were simply too quick on both sides of the ball ! Minnesota got behind early and were forced to throw the ball . Brosmer couldn’t find time to set his feet with a porous O-line and if he wasn’t being sacked he was making ill advised throws to the middle of the field . It was a rough night for gophers offensivly and defensively . With still just one win on the season they turn two their final two matchups hoping to end the year on a positive
Rutgers delivered a commanding performance in crushing Minnesota 41-7 in a dominant display on both sides of the ball. The Scarlet Knights jumped out to an early lead, scoring on their opening drive and never looking back. Their fast start forced Minnesota to abandon their balanced attack and turn to the air, which played right into Rutgers' hands.
Minnesota's passing game struggled mightily, as Rutgers' secondary was locked in all game long, picking off five errant passes. Each interception seemed to further unravel Minnesota’s offense, stalling any hopes of a comeback. Rutgers capitalized on the turnovers, turning several of them into points, including a pick-six that highlighted their defensive dominance.
Offensively, Rutgers was efficient and methodical, keeping Minnesota on their heels with a balanced attack. By the second half, the game was well out of reach, and Rutgers coasted to a lopsided 41-7 victory. With suffocating defense and timely offense, Rutgers put together one of their most complete performances of the season.
