Shootout Ends in Sadness for Bearcats

In a shootout featuring over one thousand total yards, the WVU Mountaineers defeated the Cincinnati Bearcats 48-38. The game started well for Cincy, the first quarter ended 14-7. However, turnovers and big plays were the name of the game for WVU in the 2ns quarter as they out scored Cincy 17-0 in the second quarter. Both teams scored 24 points the rest of the game as Cincy was unable to stop the prolific WVU offense. In the air or on the ground, they were all over the overmatched Cincinnati team, spoiling the record setting game their QB put up. Great game Shel!

The West Virginia Mountaineers defeated Cincinnati Bearcats 48-38 in a high-scoring game marked by offensive firepower from both teams. West Virginia’s Garrett Greene threw for 323 yards and 4 touchdowns, including key passes to Hudson Clement and Preston Fox. Jahiem White led the Mountaineers' ground attack with 211 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. Cincinnati’s Brendan Sorsby threw for 465 yards and 4 touchdowns but was intercepted three times, stalling some key drives. Corey Kiner contributed 153 rushing yards for the Bearcats, but turnovers and missed opportunities proved costly. West Virginia’s defense capitalized on those mistakes, leading to a hard-fought victory.

Garrett Greene (West Virginia) – The quarterback had an outstanding performance, completing 20 of 24 passes for 323 yards and 4 touchdowns, while also contributing 24 rushing yards.

Jahiem White (West Virginia) – White dominated on the ground, rushing for 211 yards on 22 carries (9.6 yards per carry) and scoring 2 touchdowns. He also added 3 receptions.

Hudson Clement (West Virginia) – Clement was explosive, catching 2 passes for 81 yards, both of which were touchdowns, averaging a massive 40.5 yards per catch.
