Syracuse's Defensive Collapse

Article By: TexaNole

After a stellar performance last week, Syracuse's new defensive coordinator seemed to have completely lost his way in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. The defense couldn't manage a single crucial stop against an opponent whose offense mirrored their own in style. Coach Bossranger, on the other hand, orchestrated a brilliant offensive game plan that exploited every weakness, and credit is certainly due there. However, it's clear Syracuse's defense needs a much closer inspection after allowing a staggering 582 yards in a game they desperately needed to win to keep their bowl hopes alive.

But the blame doesn't stop with the defense. The offensive coordinator also deserves criticism for what was a three-quarter effort in a four-quarter game. The offense collapsed in the final stretch, throwing two late interceptions with a chance to tie the game. However, even if the offense had managed to claw back, it might not have mattered, given that the defense seemed to have never left New York.

Good luck to Coach Bossranger for the rest of the season, but just a word of caution: The Loudhouse isn't for everyone. We'll see if you're ready for it next year.
