Article By: Despite the hard fought win UTEP defense continues to struggle with getting stops. For the third straight game the UTEP defense lets up another 40 piece. The offense stays consistent with other strong performance led by running back Jevon Jackson as he had 202 yards on the ground and 90 receiving along with 3 touchdowns. Credit to the Middle Tennessee offense for slicing and dicing the UTEP defense. the MTSU quarterback Nick Vattiato was making all the right reads with 431 yards 5 tds except for that interception that was taken back for a pick six which in the end kind of determined the game. UTEP Is back at .500 which they look to get above that with win next against LA TECH. Both teams have a hopeful future ahead but, for UTEP they have focus on getting that defense solid in order to a contender for a division title.
UTEP rolls in clash with MTSU
Article By: El Paso, TX (AP) - The UTEP Miners made a statement with their interim coach, beating down MTSU 56-35 Saturday at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, TX. Utep never punted or turned the ball over in this game, scoring every time they had the ball.
MTSU QB Nick Vaitano continues to put up big numbers but unfortunately threw one errant pass that was returned for a TD that ultimately lead to their demise.
MTSU still has an outside chance to win Conference USA with their first conference loss and is ready to host the Liberty Flames next week.
