In a thrilling matchup, Stanford came into NC State and secured a 38-21 victory. The game started strong for NC State, who held the lead at halftime. With just 3 seconds left in the first half, Grayson McCall threw a 28-yard pick-six, allowing Stanford to momentarily take the lead. However, McCall quickly redeemed himself by connecting with Dacari Collins on a stunning 77-yard touchdown pass with just 1 second remaining, putting NC State back on top.
Despite the promising first half, NC State's offense struggled immensely in the second half, failing to score any points. Stanford capitalized on this, dominating the latter part of the game and ultimately securing the win.
"Bottom line we turn the ball over too much to win a game and when you can't stop anyone and can't hold on to the ball, you're bound to lose the game." Said, Coach ICE after the game.
The Stanford Cardinal would continue their first season in the ACC, and traversing the country racking up sky miles. This time the Stanford squad would come away with an exciting 38-21 victory over the NC State Wolfpack in Raleigh.
The Cardinal defense would get an interception on the Pack’s first drive but would only be able to add 3 points to the scoreboard and take a 3-0 lead. The pack would march right down the field a couple minutes later to take that lead back on a 6 yard McCall pass to Jordan Waters, 7-3.
Stanford put together a nice drive and quarterback Ashton Daniels would find Bryce Farrell on a 45 yard pass to reclaim the lead, 10-7 after 1.
Cardinal kicker Aidan Flintoff would have his best game of the season after the Pack would hold the Cardinal out of the endzone on their next drive, 13-7.
Thr 2 teams drove on each other all game and exchanged td’s one a McCall 8 yard scamper followed by a Collin Wright int for 6 with 1 second remaining before the half, but nc state would hit a long 77 yard pass to go into half up 21-20.
Stanford would start the 3rd quarter scoring with a solid drive ending in a Sedrick Irvin run and cap off with a 2 point conversion, 28-21.
Daniels would find receiver Elic Ayomanor for 42 yards and a score to extend the lead to 35-21 headed to the 4th.
The Stanford defense would continue to hold strong the rest of the 2nd half and Flintoff would tack on another fg, to make the final score 38-21.
