University of Louisiana-Monroe gets things rolling with an opening drive touchdown to set the pace. The Marshall Thundering Herd, however, answer quickly and never look back from there. The Herd cruise to a 49-14 victory over ULM and help boost their conference record on the season.
What a massacre! The score doesn't even do this beating justice. Marshall wins convincingly 49-14, but it could have easily been 70+. ULM continues to struggle and cannot get anything going. Pass game was horrible. 5 interceptions and could have been more. 1 fumble also didn't help. The O-Line cannot protect the QB and I don't care if the GOAT was playing QB, he wouldn't fair any better. This has definitely been a humbling experience this year and Coach Taruncheel is wondering if he can even hang anymore. "Look, I can take a loss. However, this was just embarrassing. My defensive playcalling couldn't stop a toddler learning to walk. My offensive gameplan better include stickum the next game because my receivers love to drop the ball. This is not taking anything away from Marshall. They were well coached. Herring and Booty couldn't do anything right. Even though we got out to a 7-0 lead, I knew that wouldn't last and before you knew it, it was 28-7 in the 2nd. We have 4 more games to go and hopefully I can get the kids to fight until the end."
