The Owls started strong this game actually leading for most of the first half. Coach SSI was beyond himself happy and then the real Owls showed up. 6 ints later and some great adjustments by MTSU the game ended. The Owls will keep working to notch 1 win this season but are fast running out of chances. GG Packsy. Great to play again.
Kennesaw, GA (AP) - In a game where the Blue Raiders thought maybe their Conf USA title dreams were being ripped away with a large deficit early, captain and QB Nick Vattiano held his offense together after some early mistakes to come thru with a win against the home Owls.
The Owls took an early 14-0 lead in the game and had the ball driving to go up by 21 before throwing their first errant pick of the game. Vattiano and the offense would come thru, scoring on every drive they had the ball the remainder of the game en route to a 49-20 victory.
TE Holden Willis and Vattiano continued their national leading passing attack with Willis scoring 2 TD's, and Vattiano throwing for 309 yards and 4 TD's.
Omari Kelly had a breakout game for the Raiders with 6 receptions for 147 yards and 2 TD receptions. "We needed Omari to come thru, he was a transfer kid and finally had a game we have expected him to have all season."
Next week MTSU hosts undefeated Liberty at home in a battle of who may be standing atop the Conference USA standings with just four weeks left in the season. "Biggest home game in our schools history in a long time, we are very, very excited." GG Wes!
