Great day in Oklahoma for the Sooners.

Oklahoma down arch rival Texas

Article By: Akpatrick42

In a thrilling edition of the Red River Showdown, the Oklahoma Sooners emerged victorious over the Texas Longhorns, winning 34-20 in a game filled with momentum shifts and dominant performances. This clash of bitter rivals showcased the heart and resilience of the Sooners as they claimed a crucial win in their season.

Oklahoma running back Gavin Sawchuck stole the show, scoring three total touchdowns and playing a pivotal role in the victory. Sawchuck's versatility and explosiveness were on full display, allowing him to lead the offense with both rushing and receiving contributions. His relentless running style and ability to find the end zone made him a nightmare for the Texas defense, which struggled to contain him throughout the game.

The Sooners' offensive attack was efficient, registering 411 total yards, with 272 coming through the air and 139 on the ground. Quarterback Jackson Arnold was particularly impressive, tossing two touchdowns and, importantly, did not throw an interception, maintaining composure against a fiercely competitive Texas defense.

Despite being outgained in total offense and first downs, Oklahoma capitalized on key opportunities and made critical plays when it mattered most. The Sooners managed to convert on 6 Texas turnovers, including 6 interceptions, which had a significant impact on the game's outcome. Defensive adjustments made by Coach AK allowed Oklahoma to exploit Texas's passing game, leading to two pivotal “user” interceptions that turned the tide in favor of the Sooners.

In the storied Oklahoma-Texas Red River Shootout Rivalry the Sooners Defensive big plays and offensive Halfback game were the BIG story.
Texas knew on the road in Norman, they would have to establish the run to have any shot. The Sooners defense was stout throughout stopping the run, only allowing 28 yards on 14 carriers by the Longhors. On the opposite side of the ball, Texas couldnt avoid big first half plays from Sooners RB Gavin Sawchuk who racked up 156 total yards on 26 touches, 3 which resulted in touchdowns.

For the 2nd consecutive game, The Texas Passing game racked up a solid showing of completed passes and yards but couldnt avoid the interception. QB Quinnn Ewers was 17-23 for 263 yards and 3 touchdowns. BUT all 6 incompletions resulted in interceptions, 1 returned for a touchdown by Sooner Jaren Kanak.

Coach Z had nothing but praise for the Sooners and their coach after the loss:

"Coach AK is a hellof a coach, his guys were locked in on D. All credit to him and his team, they deserved the win. We have nothing but respect for those guys"
