After dropping their first game last week, USM came out hot today and got back on track with a 31-3 win over Taruncheel and ULM.
"He's a veteran coach and we expected a battle... he caught some bad breaks and we were able to capitalize early." Said Riccio.
USM's offense came out sharp early and after they were able to turn over ULM the lead started to get in control of the game.
USM was led by QB Tate Rodemaker who tossed 14 of 16 for 161 and 2 td's. ULM played General Booty in this game, thats it, i just thought that should be thrown in there.
It was one of those days in which nothing seemed to fall in place for the Warhawks. QB's threw 2 INT's in the end zone and the defense could not find a way to stop the USM offense. USM had 221 yards on the ground and could have had more if it weren't for the fact that they were up big. The QB from USM was 16 of 18 and the Warhawks' defense was unproductive. A QB change for the Warhawks took place right before halftime, but that did not lead to many points on the board. General Booty made his debut and may become the starter. Coach Taruncheel was not happy with the play of Hunter Herring and had these words at the end of the game. "We left points on the field and we cannot afford to do that. I need to work these boys harder and find a way for us to play better. Our fans deserve better and we let them down!"
