Williams Continues to Thrive on the Ground

Iowa Holds on Again

Article By: wildes1

Iowa improved to 6-0 behind another great performance from their HB Leshon Williams. He ran for 173 yards and 1 TD behind the mighty Iowa offensive line. CB Jermari Harris put the Hawkeyes up 14-0 early in the second half when he picked off a pass to the flat and took it to the house.

Iowa was marching down the field with 3 min left in the 2nd quarter, preparing to score with little time left in the half., when they had a pass bounce off wide open WR Gill and get picked off by a Huskie at the 45 yard line and return it back for a TD to cut the 14-7. QB McNamara was clearly rattled as he threw another Interception on the next drive. So instead of up 3 scores at halftime, Iowa found themselves only up 14-7 and kicking to Washington to begin the 2nd half.

The Iowa defense came up big again, getting the ball back, and Williams took it from there. He finished off a 75 yard drive with 25 yard TD run to put the Hawkeyes up 21-7. Iowa would go into their conservative offense, and barely hold on for the win against a very game Huskie squad who would score twice in the 4th quarter closing the game out 24-21.

Huskies are on the verge

Huskies fall to Hawkeyes

Article By: Doodee

The University of Washington Huskies faced an Iowa Hawkeyes club on a roll, and promptly got rolled by Leshon Williams.

"Once again, we just got beat in the trenches," said Coach Doodee. "They've got the bigs and we don't, and we really needed them this game."

Huskies tailback Jonah Williams was bottled up all game, only gaining 24 yards on 11 carries. QB Will Rogers was called on to drive the offense, and he had his best game of the season, going 20/27 for 236 yards, 2 TDs and ONLY 3 INTs.

"You know it was a tough environment and that's a great coach on the other sideline. We put ourselves in a whole early, and I thought Will did a nice job for the most part cutting back on the interceptions, and he got us back to within a possession. But it was too little, too late."

Earlier in the game, Huskies K Grady Gross missed a 38 yard field goal after he tripped on his shoelace.

"Glitches happen," said the coach. "I feel bad for him, but that one's on the trainers I guess."

Rogers had touchdown passes to Daniyel Ngata and Giles Jackson, but also threw a pick six that put the game out of reach.

GG wildes, it was fun!
