Air Force Falcons Fall Short Vs Lobos

Article By: Ninjanano98

In a game packed with offensive fireworks, the Air Force Falcons were unable to maintain their early momentum, ultimately falling to the New Mexico Lobos by a score of 50-40. Despite putting up 510 yards of total offense, the Falcons were outpaced in the second half as the Lobos mounted a strong comeback.

### **Game Recap:**

**First Half:**
Air Force came out strong, scoring 14 points in the first quarter and adding another 13 in the second. Quarterback John Busha led the charge with an efficient passing game, racking up 298 yards through the air. The Falcons’ ground game was also effective, amassing 212 yards, led by the trio of Dylan Carson, Aiden Calvert, and Kade Frew. At halftime, Air Force seemed in control with a 27-21 lead.

**Second Half:**
However, the second half told a different story. New Mexico's offense exploded, outscoring Air Force 29-13 in the final two quarters. The Lobos' passing attack, which totaled 363 yards, proved too much for the Falcons' defense to handle. While Air Force continued to find success on the ground and through the air, turnovers and missed opportunities in the red zone plagued their efforts.

New Mexico capitalized on key mistakes, including a crucial turnover in the fourth quarter, to seal the game. The Lobos' 50-yard bomb late in the game, followed by a successful two-point conversion, put the game out of reach for the Falcons.

### **Key Stats:**

- **Total Offense:** Air Force: 510 yards, New Mexico: 528 yards
- **Rushing Yards:** Air Force: 212 yards, New Mexico: 165 yards
- **Passing Yards:** Air Force: 298 yards, New Mexico: 363 yards
- **Turnovers:** Air Force: 4, New Mexico: 1

Despite the loss, the Falcons showed resilience and offensive prowess, especially in the first half. However, the defense's inability to contain New Mexico's passing attack and critical turnovers proved costly.

The Falcons now stand at 2-4 on the season and will look to regroup as they prepare for their next challenge.
