ULM had a home game, but not home field advantage. The game started with a long drive by ULM only to see Herring fumble and JMU take it to the house for a 7-0 lead. JMU continued to play tough defense and forced another fumble and an interception. JMU took a 17-0 lead, but Herring was able to find Britt Jrl right before half to cut the lead to 17-7 for the Dukes. However, JMU would not need to score again, although they did, due to the ineffective offensive play by the Warhawks. Nothing seemed to click and a change of QB's did not help any. Coach Taruncheel had this to say. "Our offensive line needs to give our QB more protection and open up holes for our RB's. The defense is getting too much penetration and there is not enough time to make the proper read or adjustment. Our defense needs to learn to tackle. Our WR's need to catch the ball. We had 4 drops and that will not help the cause. We are now sitting 0-3 in conference play and it looks to be a long season unless we can turn things around."
