Cardinal Defense Comes Up Huge at Home

Article By: TheRealDray

Defense was the best offense today for Stanford, as the Cardinal would tally 3 defensive scores today against the Hokies of Virginia Tech. The last being the game winner with 9 seconds remaining I the game.
The Hokies would actually jump out in front first 7-0 on a terrific run by Tuten of 42 yards in the first quarter. The quarter would come to a close after a long answer drive by Stanford, capped off with a Sedrick Irvin touchdown. 7-7 after one.
After a defensive stop, the Cardinal offense would again find pay dirt as Ashton Daniels would find Elic Ayomanor for 73 yards to go up 14-7. Va Tech would then have an errant pitch fumble that the men in cardinal would scoop up and score to go up 21-7. The school from Blacksburg would not stay down however, and soon cut into the lead 21-14 before half.
Late 3rd, another hit on the qb would lead to a deflected pitch and Zaharan Manley would take it in from 17 out to put Stanford up 28-14.
VT would keep battling, tying the game late with a long drive at 28 with 1:03 left. Stanford would then make the play of the game as Collin Wright would step in front of a pass and take it to the house to seal the game, 34-28 as the pat was blocked.
“It was a mixed bag of good and bad today. We are very grateful to get the win, but we definitely have a lot to look at and a lot to work on still. Certainly feels good to still be able to review those things after a win and look to get better. Huge props to new coach in the league Coach Neal at Va Tech. He is gonna keep the Hokies on the upswing, and make them a better team and program. Best of luck the rest of the season!” Said Coach TheRealDray after the game.

Turnovers again haunt the Hokies

Article By: Neal

The winless Virginia Tech Hokies would travel to take on the newest member of the ACC Stanford Cardinal. Let’s just say it would not end well for VT. Last week it was INTs against Miami this week it was fumbles and a pick 6 as the Stanford defense would be more than they needed as they scored 3 defensive TDS to sink the Hokies chance of getting their first win. The game was tied at 28 after a late score and stop from VT then they tried to get flashy instead of
Playing smart and threw the game winning pick 6 to Stanford with 9 seconds left. Coach Neal was very happy with the way we played but still a few things to clean up if we want to get over that hump to get our first win. Stanford coach therealdray30 was an amazing opponent and gracious in victory wishing Coach Neal best of luck. Texas Tech is next as the Hokies continue to look for their first victory on the year.
