Defense dictated this early season battle for ACC bragging rights. Clemson were the first to get the ball and what happened on the first drive was a blueprint for the rest of the night. Clemson would often make it to the FSU 35-40 yard line but then would bog down, get sacked, or get blown up.
Tyler Brown got Clemson on the board with a 59 yard punt return TD. Both teams traded punts until FSU was able to score in the second quarter. Clemson continued to make some progress but could never get into the red zone and cause trouble.
Then, early in the fourth quarter was the game changing play. WR Stallato took a screen pass from Klubnik for a crucial third down conversion but his head was down and he took a big hit causing him to fumble. FSU would be able to capitalize for a TD. They added a fg to build a ten point lead.
Florida State walks away with a victory over Clemson after a solid Defensive Game. FSU was able to keep pressure on Clemson's offense and force Clemson's punt team on the field, ultimately sealing the FSU win 17-7.
