UCF bounces back with a grind it out win vs. conference foe Colorado. It was a game of swings, as Colorado got up early 14-7 in the game, but UCF was able to manage a FG before the half to get things closer 14-10. With UCF receiving the ball at half, they were content to go in and try to take the lead on the opening drive, when a bit of good luck came their way.
Standout QB Shadeur Sanders dropped back to pass a deep ball with 5 seconds left in the 2nd half, but then decided to go check down, only to see Sr. CB Brandon McWilliams lurking to cut off the route and pick the pass off for 30 yard pick six going into the break to get UCF a 17-14 lead.
The Knights came out in the second half scoring 10 unanswer to bring the lead to 13, but that's when things got interesting.
Right on queue, Travis Hunter caught a long 75 yard TD pass as his speed and catch and run skills were too much for the UCF secondary to get the game within 7 (doink PAT). On the ensuing drive, QB KJ Jefferson threw his 2nd pick six of the game to the Buffs, which at the time brought the score to within 1. (another doink PAT). With the score knotted at 27-26 with 3 minutes to go, it was up to the Knights to drive down the field and seal the deal.
4th and 1 was forced and UCF was set to settled for a FG with 38 seconds remaining to make it at least a 4 pt game forcing Colorado to score a TD to win. Well, Colton Boomer missed what should have been a make (meter was all perfect) but of course it missed putting the pressure back on the D.
The ensuing play, UCF forced their 4th INT of the game to seal the deal. GG Outlaw, it was a wonky one but I appreciate your flexibility in getting this one in!
