Although ULM had more offense than the Trojans, they couldn't find the endzone and missed some short FG's. Both teams kept control of the ball and there were 0 turnovers during the game. The Trojans run game averaged 4.2 yards per carry. Hunter Herring, QB for the Warhawks, went 18 for 30 with 277 passing yards. Seven of the incompletions were drops by his receiving core. Coach Taruncheel had the following to say after the game. "It was a tough battle and we came up short. We did a good job of holding onto the ball, but the dropped passes really hurt. Luke Stagg, FG kicker, had an off night and not sure what happened. We will continue to hit the practice field and look for ways to improve. Hats off to the Trojans and Coach AUCHASE_!

The Troy Trojans opened Sun Belt Conference play against the ULM Warhawks on their home turf. This was a closely contested game as both teams looked to control the clock and protect the ball. In the first half, Troy struggled to consistently stop ULM but thanks to a couple missed field goals were able to keep control of the scoreboard deep into the game. After ULM tied the game up in the 4th Q, Troy quickly marched down the field to retake the lead as QB Goose Crowder connected with WR Devonte Ross for Crowder's 3rd touchdown pass of the game. Crowder had a "sneaky good" game completing 15/19 for 225 yards, 3 TDs, and 0 interceptions.
Coach AUChase had this to say following the game: Great game. I feel like both teams did enough offensively to either win the game or draw even but we caught some breaks and were able to pull away late in the game. I feel like this was one of those games that one play going differently could have drastically shifted the scales. I want to shout out Goose for his performance. He opened this year up with 0 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. The fan base wrote some nasty things about him on message boards but we know what kind of work he's putting in behind closed doors and It's nice to see him finding some success finally. Fans are fans so I do not blame them but I hope they continue to show the team some leniency because this is going to be a tough Sun Belt stretch coming up. I feel confident we have some of the best group of 5 teams in the country and I hope my players are up to the challenge."
Troy returns home next week to play a very good Texas State team and coach xLiQx.
